MAYOR'S ALERT - DRONES ISSUE

On December 11, 2024, Mayor Tvrdik attended an in-person briefing in Ewing with representatives of the NJ State Police and the NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness regarding the recent reports of drones flying in the state.  The Mayor was informed that at this point there is no knowledge of the origin of the drones or where they land.  While Governor Murphy was not present, last Thursday, Governor Murphy tweeted that “We are actively monitoring the situation and in close coordination with our federal and law enforcement partners on this matter.  There is no known threat to the public at this time.”  Colonel Patrick Callahan of the NJ State Police; Laurie Doran, Director of NJ Homeland Security and Preparedness; and Brent Cotton,  Director, Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems Policy in the US Department of Homeland Security were in attendance.  Mayor Tvrdik will continue to update the residents if he receives any additional updates or information.  Drone sightings should be reported to Oceanport Police at 732-222-6301 or the NJ Office of Homeland Security and preparedness at 1-866-472-3365 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
