Notice of Special Meeting

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Oceanport Planning Board will conduct a Special Meeting and a Public Hearing to be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 6 p.m. in the Blackberry Bay Park Pavilion, 440 Port Au Peck Avenue, Oceanport, New Jersey for the purpose of consideration of an Amendment to the Third Round Housing Element and Fair Share Plan that are being proposed for adoption as part of the Oceanport Borough Master Plan, and to take testimony and answer questions from interested persons.  Following the public hearing the Planning Board may further amend or adopt the proposed Amendment to the Third Round Housing Element and Fair Share Plan as part of the Oceanport Borough Master Plan.  The Planning Board will also be considering referrals from the Governing Body of four (4) proposed zoning ordinance amendments as to their consistency with the Master Plan.

 

A copy of the proposed amendment is available for inspection in the Borough Clerk's Office, 315 E. Main Street, Oceanport, NJ from 9am to 4pm Monday thru Thursday.

Any interested party may appear in person or through an agent or attorney to be heard at such hearing and may participate therein in accordance with the rules of the Planning Board.

Planning Board Information

The Planning Board is an eleven member Board (includes two alternate members) who are responsible for generating and updating Oceanport's Master Plan. The Master Plan is a comprehensive plan intended to guide and control the current and long-range development and land use within the Town. The Board serves as a combined Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment.

PLANNING BOARD APPROVAL

Planning Board approval is required prior to the subdivision of land within the Borough of Oceanport as well as for any development involving any new building other than one or two-family dwellings, any new addition to an existing building other than one or two-family dwellings, any change in use of an existing building, any new off-street parking area and any land disturbance involving an area of 1,000 square feet or more, including excavation, soil removal, land filling or site clearance. 

Since the Oceanport Planning Board serves as a combined Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-25c., application must also be made to the Planning Board for relief from the strict application of the zoning and land use ordinances of the Borough as well as appeals from the decision of the Borough's Zoning Officer.
